North Eastern Community Hospital, Australia
North Eastern Community Hospital is South Australia’s only single-site, not-for-profit combined hospital and aged care service. It was looking for a better way to manage its risks.
The hospital’s existing risk management approach was essentially a centrally-controlled risk register spreadsheet, which was a blend of risks, controls and consequences with a degree of duplication.
The hospital’s Board and management decided they needed a solution to review and improve their risk management approach across the enterprise and, more importantly, to meet the requirements of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS) for accreditation.
After researching, North Eastern Community Hospital chose CAMMS’ Risk Management solution because it was comprehensive yet affordable, and supported by a team with extensive risk management knowledge and implementation experience.
With CAMMS, the hospital worked to review and improve its Risk Management Policy, develop a Risk Management Strategy and Risk Management Plan Review, and create new strategic and operational risk registers using CAMMS’ software.
Now, the organization has been able to develop a robust strategic and operational risk register with a supporting policy, strategy and plan. Managers and staff are now able to proactively manage their risks in the one system, which has also improved the hospital’s reporting ability.
CEO Scott Williams said he was impressed with the end result.
“I engaged CAMMS to provide a software solution for Risk Management, primarily because what they were offering was more than just a risk register, rather an integrated approach to risk management,” he said.
“From my early dealings with the CAMMS team I was impressed with their ability to listen and understand our needs and therefore not try to market aspects of a product we didn’t need at this stage in our journey.”
